“People don’t think that audiences want to see brown faces in leading roles unless they are a particular type of character,” @GurinderC tells @MehdiRHasan, about the representation in her film “Bend it Like Beckham.” But, she adds, “we are seeing it change in front of our eyes.”

People inside the industry don’t think audiences aren’t ready but just like in politics most are way ahead of the people making the decisions. Good stories with good characters with good actors will get watched.

Being a soccer fan, I remember seeing this film when it came out -- personally didn't remember the Kiera Knightly being in it. Loved Parminder Nagra though!

Tonight’s show was a reminder that I needed to watch “Bend it like Beckham” and so I did! Brilliant movie !!!!! Thanks @GurinderC ♥️

Get real about Hollywood and stop it with the BS. Remember the movies, "Short Circuit"? That wasn't even an Indian lead -- that was an Ashkenazi man in brownface like Justin Trudeau. She's great. This is not commentary on her. It's on your level of superficiality on MSNBC.

Are you you or are you your show?
Seems you like doing the thinking for a lot of people.. while putting your ignorance on full display!!!
