“To understand what’s going on in Ukraine right now, what’s going on inside of Russia, too, and what’s driving Vladimir Putin, we need to talk about a man named Ivan Ilyin,” says @mehdirhasan. Let him introduce you to the Russian autocrat’s favorite fascist philosopher:

Very informative and so depressing.
Putin must beat the dog until the master comes out.
Thank you Mehdi for this great explainer! Maybe you could also talk sense into your fmr colleague @jeremyscahill who (implicitly) calls to leave Ukraine for surrender and subjugation, and even more, still peddles the deranged Ukrainian far-right narrative theintercept.com/2022/03/10/…
THANK YOU so much for this! Highly informative and educational. 👏👍😊 How sad our world must once again give witness to such a monster.//Vincent Turner//
Good! Mehdi at last did something good about this war! Till now he was babycrying about the past and felt ignorant in that topic!

The only thing is, he is not "far right" because he is not religious and he is atheist. He only mentions the bible when it suits him. He is a marxist dictator but without the Central Comitee, so his actions are not under-check by anyone, unlike previous marxist dictators.
What an amazing insight into Putin’s fascism! And maybe a warning of Trumpism?
I thought Aleksandr Dugin is the most influential philosopher in Russia...
