France has changed course in its previous attitude toward refugees, welcoming Ukrainians after trying to “protect itself” from Afghans months earlier. @GerardAraud says it’s bc of feeling more of a connection with fellow Europeans. “You can say that’s a shame, but it’s a fact.”

Having lived in France (l'Ain), and seeing how migrants are treated... I welcome former Ambassador Araud's candour about the double standards. Could he though expand on why brown faced Europeans like me had a considerably worse experience to my white faced Australian colleagues?
