Many international observers have – rightfully – expressed horror at the ongoing atrocities in Ukraine. However, as @MehdiRHasan and @AymanM point out, there have been more than a few instances where certain commentators’ shock at the war in Europe ebbs into outright racism.

More important for you @mehdirhasan - ask UN if they have finished their interview with your friend Rana Ayyub ! There are better useful things to be discussed today, don’t you think so ???
Been reflecting on the killing in Ukraine. Been reflecting on racist treatment of non-white students trying to flee home. The real war is the perennial battle of humanity vs inhumanity. Love vs hate. This is the true war. Stand for humanity. Fight hate.
This comment section is so racist from both sides. What a sham liberals and conservatives have become. Europe didn't help Yugo's (white) flee their conflict. And we've helped Afghans resettle (after we abandoned their country albeit).
why didnt you show this racist clip from your own network @MSNBC @NBCNews
She didn’t get the memo. “To put it bluntly, these are not refugees from Syria, these are refugees from Ukraine... They're Christian, they're white, they're very similar."
But the true reason is that wherever USA interfares this things happen. Say Middle East, now NATO
Say,O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you-that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allāh.But if they turn away, then say,"Bear witness that we are Muslims. #Quran

I’m not white, however, I acknowledge white countries generally are more civilized. Why must we Democrats always lie. White people have built the amazing world we live in. We should be grateful and learn. Let’s stop blaming white people for being better than us. Shameful!

Sadly, terribly, everyone subconsciously feels less empathy for people who are distant and look different, than they do for those who are near and perceived as similar. We should all try to recognise and correct for it. Depressing to see journalists utterly failing to do either.
