Many international observers have – rightfully – expressed horror at the ongoing atrocities in Ukraine. However, as @MehdiRHasan and @AymanM point out, there have been more than a few instances where certain commentators’ shock at the war in Europe ebbs into outright racism.

They’re not wrong. There is a huge bias. I don’t subscribe to it, but it exists. It has been unacceptable in Rwanda, in Sudan, in Syria, and now in Ukraine. But the bottom line is: We ALL should be better than this as a species - and we’re not.

Tribalism and/or physical similarities may be a factor. Though I think a strong leader as the current President who demonstrated bravery & political savvy is a more essential factor.
The World, should get involved or care because WWII started along similar lines. Germany was allied with Italy look how that turned out for Italy. Belarus should be wide awake because the Russian snake has 2 heads. Democracies must pull together to protect democracy.

Thanks for calling this out. Apparently war is different in 1st world vs 3rd world. Smh 🙄
People seriously need to read a history book. But if reading is too much there’s always YouTube where you can quickly learn history lessons about wars.
It should be normal that refugees go to the neighboring countries. Poland shares border with Ukraine where else should they go? Syria or Afghanistan does not have border with Germany or Sweden.

Thanks for calling this out, refugees are not thrown into this status for their race, they are victims of war and deserve kindness and dignity.

Let’s add the colonial mix and it’s all plain to see the racism. The European wars are endless all about profit and gaining not a single concern for anyone
