A new pandemic consensus is emerging, says @mehdirhasan. “That consensus seems to be: ‘I’m done with all this. Let the virus do its thing, who cares about future variants or long Covid and if other people die, oh well.’” He asks, “Is this really the America we want to live in?”

Nice positive attitude..🙄 There truly are people who absolutely do not want this pandemic to go away. Of course they have hundreds of excuses as to why we should just keep holding onto it..😣 Unfortunately, MSNBC seems to be a breeding ground for those people who feel that way.

COVID is now endemic. It’s not going away. The vaccinated are safe from serious illness so it’s time to end mask mandates. Of course masks can be voluntary for those people that are immunocompromised

Or is the consensus that given the amount adults vaccinated, the protection the previously infected have, improved therapeutics and miniscule serious illness amongst children and those with breakthrough cases, it's time to move away from 2020 type restrictions now?

Thank you for speaking out. Most news shows and media are promoting the idea of “the urgency of normal.”

No, but it's the one we've got. What do you suggest?

Yes. However I dislike how you framed the argument - people die. Break out all of the stats for that - were they overweight? vaxxed? More people dying from fentanyl than covid right now. Why isn't that getting more headlines and concern?
