Beto O’Rourke stuck around after his 2020 presidential run ended, campaigning for voting rights, and fundraising for victims of the Texas snowstorms (while Ted Cruz was hanging out at the Ritz Cancun). But, @mehdirhasan asks, will it be enough to beat incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott?

Texas legislators will never allow a democrat to be elected.

I love Beto. He comes off has super genuine. Great speaker. I really hope I'm wrong on this, but being in Texas, I think that take away your guns line will sink him.

People continue to vote along party lines too much. Most times it's not about policy or capability. It's how much u don't want the other party to win.
It’s going to be a tough & nasty campaign. But I reckon beto & his family know that. & he needs security…

I don’t care. So he’s 2-0 and the deck is stacked. He’s still running, he’s suiting up and showing up to keep the light alive in this state. I’ll keep replacing those yards signs as they’re stolen, just like I did last time. And my son just turned 18, that’s one more vote, baby!
I think it will be enough if Abbott and his cohorts have an honest election but that is unlikely as Republicans feel the need to cheat in order to win
He has every qualification in the world, but unfortunately he will not win. As a lifelong Texan, I feel pretty confident (and despaired) in saying that
