Historians might look back on this time period and ask why we defaulted on our debt, why we let the planet burn, and why we watched as our democracy disintegrated. @mehdirhasan says, “The answer that will shock them is our refusal to modify one stupid Senate procedural rule.”

Don't worry, there won't be anyone left. ...let alone historians. ☹
What will likely baffle them more is how a self-righteous minority somehow managed to wield any power at all to bring these things about. That one stupid rule would be irrelevant if we didn’t have a party that kept doubling down on its denial of reality.
FUCK!!! THIS RIGHT HERE ✅ 👏 👌 🙌 💯 👇👇👇
Mehdi as a fellow Brit I too despair at the broken political system here and the broken politicians who perpetrate it…but man, don’t give up your voice…✌🏼
All valid questions. The answer? GREED

@mehdirhasan you are our National treasure. Keep speaking your mind. For you make us a better country
Maybe. If there are any historians left.
Or maybe there won’t be historians in the true sense of the word, just propagandist who tell us Orwellian things,
BOTH parties use the filibuster to avoid votes they don't want to cast (eg the $15 minimum wage, which Manchin, Sinema, and several others didn't support). The sooner we all start seeing it that way and holding them accountable, the more responsive our government will be.
