Historians might look back on this time period and ask why we defaulted on our debt, why we let the planet burn, and why we watched as our democracy disintegrated. @mehdirhasan says, “The answer that will shock them is our refusal to modify one stupid Senate procedural rule.”

A rule that McConnell will remove as soon as he’s in the majority. Manchin and Sinema are GOP operatives set on making chaos for the Biden administration
Stupid and undemocratic rule.
We just can never seem to get out of our own way.

This might be a *slight* over-simplification Mehdi. We could have taken action to save our planet from boiling 40 years ago, but, you know... capitalism.

If anyone even exists to be an historian!! 🥺🥺
Or, there may be no historians to look back at all as the planet burns.

There aren't going to be any historians to look back
Do you really think the filibuster is all that stands in the way of saving the planet for future generations. Um, it’s a stupid rule, by all means, but I think there may be several reasons, and US exceptionalism (which you seem to have bought into) should be on that list. 🤯
