The Senate parliamentarian advised Dems they can’t use the budget bill to pass immigration reform, leaving the Majority Leader “disappointed” and “frustrated”. @BarbaraBoxer’s solution? “You can also overrule her.”

Fyi, @mehdirhasan - the parliamentarian can be replaced instead of fired, as well. See: Bob Dove in the 1990s.

Schumer can choose differently & stop whining. Parliamentarian NOT ELECTED, NO POWER. This= another in the long continuing series of excuses that the weasely Democrats make to serve the agendas of wealhy donors at the expense of the public welfare. US needs a MULTI-PARTY system!
Or...the Dems could have made it a standalone bill and forced a vote and/or showdown on filibuster.

Ummm. If this was the Republicans they wouldn't let a little parlementarian get in their way to get what they want. Why are the Democrats letting it get in theirs?

Also... Why are the Democrats not doing what the Republicans do without a second thought... which is replace the parlementarian with someone that will give them carte blanche for everything they want to do. Isn't this the way the game is played now??

R DEMs ruling out overruling parliamentarian from the start?? Do the immigration issues DEMs want to protect meet rules followed by her?If they do-overrule or replace her? DEMs know the rules-can’t they craft a proposal they KNOW will meet the rules&if rejected, then overrule her?
They should ignore her decision.
