Britain is celebrating the U.S. Open win of Emma Raducanu, born in Canada to parents from China and Romania, and being hailed as the face of a diverse UK. But as British-American @mehdirhasan asks, wouldn’t it be great to celebrate even the immigrants who don’t win trophies?

Of course you’re right-all reasonable folk would agree. But Britain has historically contained a large section of its population who are insular, arrogant, small minded xenophobic & self congratulatory-embracing those immigrants that add to that sense while rejecting all others
But... but.... immigrants can't become honorary whites without doing something extraordinary!
This is bonkers. How does not 'celebrating' immigrants equate to immigration being 'a crime'?! No it's not a crime, unless they enter illegally of course, then technically it is... But in any case immigrants deserve no more 'celebration' than anyone else just trying to get ahead.
well said, Medhi - such an important point, you made so simple yet spectacular ! love your work !😀
Sing it, Mehdi. Love you. Immigrants are heros, one and all. Where would we be without every single one of them.
Wouldn’t it be just normal first that her parents be allowed to travel to America for a start?
That is not how sports work
Nooo…. Sasa sink their boats some think!!
