.@mehdirhasan: Why should thousands of US troops stay in Afghanistan indefinitely, or even a few more months, to fight an unwinnable war with the Taliban on behalf of people who aren't interested in fighting it? @EliLake: Because a stalemate is preferable to a Taliban takeover.

Mehdi: "Why should we believe [the generals] when they now try and corner a fourth president into staying for 'just a few more years! Victory is just around the corner!'?" Eli: "Well, I didn't say victory. I said stalemate."

Mehdi: “Just to be clear for our viewers, Eli: Were you saying that we should be there for another 20 years, or for how long?” Eli: “However long it takes...”

@POTUS #Biden is striving to do the same mistake he did in #Afghanistan. #Ethiopians don’t want @USAGov to pay for the consequences of its wrong foreign policy towards #Ethiopia while It can be stopped right now. Resurrecting #TplfTerroristGroup is a big mistake & costing more!
Maybe you should go over there for the rest of your life. Does that sound like fun to you?
Has never been a war. A war requires to parties. There is only one here. The US and taliban are allies, along with Pakistan as the biggest US ally in the East. Pakistan do as US ask and in return US allow Pakistan to take control of Afghanistan using ISI and Taliban.
Loving the armchair experts who are so sure they could do a better job. Let’s go!

I don’t agree with Eli.

This isn't about the American petiole; it's about the Afghanistan people. And remind me, please... which country actually helped the Taliban get into power in the very first place??!

When someone blinks as much as Eli is doing as he speaks is a very good indication they are not being truthful
