Why are so many elected Republican leaders suddenly -- and falsely -- blaming border migrants for fueling the new Covid crisis? @AliciaMenendez breaks down the fraught history of a nativist narrative:

Fascism is far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition ..of racial purity that has motivated fascist regimes to commit massacres, sterilizations, genocides, or forced deportations against a perceived other = GOP

To BLAME SHIFT as covid cases in their districts (where they are restricting mask wearing and denying science) rise to ridiculous levels.

At this point they're reaching. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Why are you even asking why Republicans say what they say?

Because they know they have screwed up and they have to turn somewhere to deflect the blame. This isn't just racism, it is bait and switch and it only works because people fall for it.

I have been sharing this segment. .@AliciaMenendez breaks it down in a way that clearly exposes the GOP hate and fear mongering. Thank you!

These reps are failing to do their jobs and keep their states safe from covid, so they point to other issues. Something Trump did very well. If in a private business, they would have been fired from their jobs.
The barrage of statements linking “socialism “ and “unAmerican “ and “leftists “ with social justice, responsible governance and public health is picking up dramatically. Are they afraid of losing their grip on Conned America or are they coiling for a strike?
Can't take responsibility for their lies and inactions so, as usual, they blame everyone else. #UnFuckingBelievable
