Was it a mistake for the CDC to tell vaccinated Americans it was ok to unmask back in May? @angie_rasmussen tells @MehdiRHasan: “I do think it was a mistake … It was a one-size-fits-all for the country and the country is in very different places.”

Huge mistake. And anyone with common sense knew that.

As @DanRather said: ‘first they tell us to wear a winter coat; 6 months later, shorts.’ Cue the faux outrage: what’s with the bait & switch???? (Teeth gnashing).

Any idiot knew it was a huge mistake. The CDC director should be fired
I loved being able to go maskless & into restaurants again even if it was only for a month and a half. I am absolutely ready to wear a mask again if it’s going to help the country. We’re grown ups! 💪🏽👍🏽
It was a mistake to assume that the unvaccinated people would be honest and honorable about their status.

It was stupid. We were told we need ~70% of population fully vaccinated to achieve herd immunity. Logically? You should continue masking until that point is reached.

You can’t be a scientist in a public realm if you can’t read the room.
I was upset when they did that because the first ppl to take off their masks were the unvaccinated. Also, kids can’t get vaxxed so it’s like ok first it was all about protecting the elderly but not the kids? Such bulls**t. They should’ve given that advice when US was 💯 vaxxed

Yes, CDC made a HUGE mistake
I never understood why she felt need or pressure to remove mask mandate in May. Basically, no one was really asking at that time, most people were willingly or unwillingly were following mask orders and debate were behind. and then they decided to mess it up.
