Is the embargo to blame for Cuba’s problems? Or the Castros & the regime? “The embargo and the regime are symbiotic,” @brhodes tells @MehdiRHasan “So this is totally absurd to suggest the only way to support the Cuban people is through a completely stifling embargo.”

Are the "pro-denocracy" Cuban exiles in Miami clanoring for US intervention Cuba's version of Trump voters?
It's time 2 stop deflecting to Cuban gov excuses abt the embargo which I want lifted 2 & time to b consistent & condemn Cuban atrocities against its own pple more than sanctions. It's time 4 revolution on the left; time 2 stop carrying water 4 Authoritarian Marxist regimes.
It's stupid to say "Cuba has an embargo, therefore its OK for them to brutalize their pple & deprive them of Civil rights."
Instead of prioritizing the embargo, which I also want lifted, why aren't u bringing attention to state-sponsored police brutality & things like this. Here's a plain clothes police threatening at gunpoint to stop recording/handover fone, but u think lifting embargo will solve this?

1/5 I’m an anti-embargo, pro-Universal Healthcare Progressive Cuban POC, but when you pretend the primary reason Cubans are suffering is due mostly to U.S. sanctions instead of a repressive, authoritarian dictatorship that deprives them of basic Civil Rights, what you’re exposing
