Snyder doesn't get how dark the sadism here is. It's about enjoying the power that comes from being able to inflict suffering on others, i.e. enjoying undocumented people are fearful of being deported or black people are humiliated with insinuations of heritable inferiority.

Nah, I think all Trump supporters hold those attitudes. Some of them admit it to themselves, and others are perfectly happy to ally with open bigots for their own political & financial gain, which is finding those attitudes practically acceptable, basically holding them.
