Islamophobia isn’t just a right-wing problem, @MehdiRHasan notes. Liberals have pushed dangerous anti-Muslim talking points. “This hate unites bigots regardless of their ethnicity or their political allegiance,” @WajahatAli adds. “I’ll give you one quick example: “Bill Maher.”

Bill is the best you can do as an example of liberals being Anti Muslim? Just proves your case that you’re grasping at straws

Are. You. Kidding. Me. But your antisemitic anti-jewish anti Zionist talking points won't cause antisemitism? You're a SHANDA as we say in Yiddish. I dare someone to walk around in a Kippah in @IlhanMN's district. See how her words incite.

Here is my question to Muslim countries... what can’t you simply arrest and send your homosexuals to a more tolerant country? Why must you kill them? And... honor killing. What is that but murder?

I stopped watching that bigot quite a while ago.

💯 Been saying this, especially about Maher for years. His anti-Muslim hatred is one of his defining traits, and is explicitly why I think he is a complete fraud. The condoning of anti-Muslim hate by both parties post 9/11 opened the door to all of the active hate we see today.

Islamaphobia is a weird way to term it also. Bigots don't fear, they hate. Fear indicates there is some reason for prejudice. But there is no reason for hate other than some embarrassing lack of knowledge, empathy or humanity.

So much this! I grew up in a suburb outside Toronto Canada with a huge South Asian population. I finally had to stop watching Maher because I couldn’t listen to the idiocy of his words that even in my pasty white skin I knew was 100% ludicrous.

The thing that strikes me the most about the faux outrage towards @IlhanMN is both sides of the isle are trying to censor a BLACK MUSLIM WOMAN! You have members of congress & senators who were accomplices in an insurection & no one bats an eye...but the moment ilhan talks...

Maybe we could stop generalizing entire ethnicities and religions, and instead focus on the actual problems like Hamas terrorists and state-supported police brutality.
