National outrage over migrant child shelters, "in a weird way, is heartening,” says immigration attorney @JPodkul. “There’s so many people who now know about these kids and now care about them.” She adds: “We should be working very hard to look at the root causes of migration.”

Why is the WH reopening shelters for migrant children? “There are a lot of complicated statutory and other reasons this is the way it is,” says reporter @jacobsoboroff, and legal changes are needed: “The question is where does the Biden administration go from here?”

#ConcentrationCamps cost us $750 per refugee per day, which is $274,000/refugee/yr! reuters.com/article/us-usa-i… Apartment rent = $750/month. We could house family of 4 in an apartment for 120 YEARS and still spend less money than the Trump/Biden camps cost for each refugee each year.
5 star hotel costs HALF what these cages cost. A Ritz Carlton suite only costs $466 per night, $100,000 LESS per immigrant per year than Trump/#Biden is wasting on #ConcentrationCamps Motel 6=$35/night=$261,000 per person per year LESS. Doing right is $261,000/person/yr CHEAPER.
What really bothers me is that the shelter infrastructure wasn’t planned prior to the EO. Couldn’t they have been more prepared? They have had their policy cast in stone since Biden decided to run. Those poor kids. They must be so frightened.

No mention of Covid precautions? Are the shelters compliant, at least?
