Why didn't impeachment managers call witnesses? Because Mitch McConnell had already said he would vote to acquit Trump. "That was deflating for us. We saw him as a linchpin vote," @RepSwalwell tells @mehdirhasan. "We thought it would be futile to chase uncooperative witnesses."

Did Sen. Chris Coons *really* say he wanted the impeachment trial over in time for Valentine’s Day? “I don’t want to go into what senators said or did not say,” says Rep. Eric Swalwell. As for Trump, “He’s gonna age like milk, he’s not gonna age like fine wine.”

hahaha no because Palsi was top of the list and you were all crapping yourselves. You never had a case, ever.
Wow are you so ignorant you do not know what Calvary is? Go get a Bible and you will find out
It would have been risky giving Trump many hours of TV time.
We wanted witnesses for public, not only jury. People have a right to know the full evidence. Witnesses would have exposed a LOT, which is why GOP was in a panic. Also, Trump's entire network was involved, proving funding, setup, intention. Hopefully criminal trials are pending.

Such a lie, they didn't want Pelosi called. End story
There are more layers to this impeachment trial. The Dem already knew he was going to be acquitted. But it was necessary to show the people the threat it posed and thus fueling their demands for a deeper and broader investigation! Nice and bold move.

Hasan is really off base here - he's frequently right, but not here. I'd like to hear him express some hesitation now and then....

History will record that Democrats didn’t do everything they could to hold a white supremacist accountable when it mattered bc they wanted to be home for Valentine’s Day 💕
