These people are joke. These people peddled a stupid Russian conspiracy for 3 years. These people have no room to talk about false news. They been spreading misinformation themselves.
This reminds me of a famous quote by Ronal Reagan: "If fascism ever comes to America, it will come in the name of liberalism." Looks like he was right.

When wrinkled shirt guy said (paraphrase) that if your platform's economic model is based on clicks, there's gonna be misinformation. Since all private platforms are based on clicks currently in our modern capitalist internet, doesn't that mean it's ALREADY misinformation based?!
Who would be our information gatekeepers? This is the very important question. Having censors is easy. And dangerous. How about we spend tons of money on educating the populace instead?

The last ten years provides objective, undeniable, evidence that these people are right. And if you don't see that you're probably one of the people who has been mislead the mosy by the rampant misinformation.
That's kind of the thing of though, innit. Democracy works great if everyone's great. Free speech works great if all speech is great. /1

This is very disappointing.

Hardpass on whatever authoritarian system u'd put in place for "gatekeepers". If they were around in 2001, those same gatekeepers would have prevented the news from spreading that Iraq did NOT have weapons of mass destruction. The free flow of ideas and information above all else
