I suspect Hasan is just trolling for a hot take to get clicks. What he's advocating, however--gatekeepers to censor social media and 'protect' people from the wrong takes--is fascism. The answer to bad speech is more speech. Thus, this tweet.

Okay Mehdi, the problem definitely isn’t Corporate & US state sponsored misinformation... its the helpless stupid people on the internet who don’t know who to trust. 🙄 Nice move from Qatar state propaganda to corporate hack.
By "trusted gatekeepers", you mean the servants of oligarchs. Your view lead straight to fascism. ANY narrative that disputes ruling class consensus is now being censored.
I love how the Left & Right insist on talking past each other rather than recognizing that both sides have common concerns about the erosion of #community/social capital by BigGovt #CorporateSocialism and Govt-chartered #Corporations whose media biz model drives anger+clicks.
Is this a preview for Netflix's 1984 series?

The socioeconomics of pushing everything to the individual -- with institutions offering fewer and fewer material benefits or protections -- is what has eroded trust in institutions. When institutions only exist to prop up a crumbling status quo, they can be easily undermined.
