I bought the originals from iam8bit, which is too bad. I would've taken these instead had they been available beforehand

They are exclusive to Kickstarter backers, so you wouldn't have been able to "buy" them regulary.

I realize. That is what I meant: had I known they were going to be made available I would've sought out the kickstarter version instead
