We are still investigating options. For now, we are waiving the minimum balance threshold for the next payment to ensure all artists receive 100% of outstanding royalties.

Sebastian Wolff here, I'm Materia's CEO. We're a team of 6 fulltime; not a massive media conglomerate. Last year, over $2M went to artists as royalty payments and investments in video game music projects. Frustrations regarding delays are valid, and they will be fixed.

“Last year, we paid a lot of people” isn’t really a great argument here.

It seems reasonable to expect that somewhere in between paying $2M in royalties and video game music projects, you could find the space or time to respond to numerous emails and DMs about royalties you weren’t paying out. It’s hard to square that as “data entry” or “accounting.”

And if a team of 6 fulltime is having trouble fulfilling the basic function of music royalties, it sounds like that’s an alarm call to start hiring more workers, easing workloads, rather than moving offices, investing in projects, and other exciting growth opportunities.

No argument here. Sometimes, growth is challenging to keep up with, and we'll be hiring to keep up with the promises that we've made.
