TFW people ask me questions about comm on practices that are definitely not legally OK. Maybe one day @soundrop & @DistroKid could team up with @Patreon to allow seamless licensing of patreon rewards from cover musicians?

here I was thinking of offering mp3 downloads for upcoming medleys that i certainly cannot license without losing money 🙈

i mean, mp3 downloads or wav downloads is a super common practice. no one has really gotten in trouble for it. and yet i haven't heard anyone talk about how they are licensing those *specific* downloads.

oh so individual licenses or something?

at least theoretically, offering patreon rewards should be no different than offering bandcamp downloads -- since it's not covered by soundrop or DK, we probably *should* be getting individual licenses. But this is so inconvenient.

inb4 @MateriaColl albums can be distributed to Patrons too. XD
