I calculate just 30-35% of Australians have symptomatic protection from Omicron based on UK study & Australian data. Boosters 3 months after 2nd dose & free rapid antigen tests are essential. Everybody can reduce spread with masks & avoiding indoor crowds. assets.publishing.service.go…

Unless and until there is corresponding data showing an increase in hospitalisation and death rates then I don’t care. We could have 50,000 cases a day for all I care - if people aren’t being hospitalised or dying then it doesn’t matter.

Couldn’t agree more. Am in the privileged position where I can afford to have a small stock of RATs at home. Have had my 3rd dose and my kids and I all wear masks indoors. I know not everyone is in the same position but everyone should be.

So you use the modelling in the UK and Australia (which has always been flawed), but ignore the real world data coming out of South Africa? You are a DISGRACE! bmj.com/content/375/bmj.n310…

And have you aimed for the most accurate estimate or the most doom-inspiring?... Sorry but there isn't much credibility left for your profession in Australia after two years of motive driven model inflation.

Has the government dropped the ball on boosters though? Everything being said seems that they are running out quickly, no matter what our PM, who appears incapable of honesty, says

Very worrying. The earliest my elderly neighbour (73 yo high risk and 2 x AZ) can find a booster is February 4th. I helped her on Saturday by calling about 15 Drs and chemists to no avail. Nothing available from Vic state vax hubs & can't book after January 16th. All greyed out.

This will not end well and yet again your advice will prove prophetic. I'm AZ 1b with 5 month due Jan 11 and earliest I can get with my GP is Pfizer Jan 21. Check of availability off web in my 10km radius in Melbourne says late Jan - early Feb, so 30+ days of caution!!

3 months now huh? So you are saying that these "safe and effective" vaccines offer protection for a grand total of 3 months? Does that sound like a product you should be recommending given the chances of side effects?

UK study? Shouldn't you lot be taking data from the source like Africa? Also aren't rapid antigen tests unreliable & a seemingly waste of time, if you gotta go to get a PCR test anyhoo?

Have families had the discussion about what will happen if a member catches the virus? Will the whole family stay home to catch it, hoping at least one adult will be well enough to look after the others? What are people's plans? 😦
