Kid vaccines prevent illness, spread & prevents rare complications - brain inflammation due to mumps 1 in 200 & 1 in 1000 due to measles; 1 death/year from rotavirus. Approx 20,000 kids 0-9 & 22,000 10-19yr had Delta in Vic & NSW. That's enough reason to COVID vacc 5-11 yr.

Surely you can't just compare vaccines against other diseases with COVID vaccines just like that?

Mary - how do you feel about this summary re FDA case for vaccination of children - considering Australia has a far lower Covid prevalence?
This is the FDA's base scenario: vaccinating 1 million boys age 5 to 11 will prevent 67 ICU stays for COVID but cause 57 excess ICU stays for myo/pericarditis. This ignores all other potential adverse events. fda.gov/media/153507/downloa…

How many of those 20,000+ children had anything other than a mild illness?

Your stats are interesting here Mary - out of those 44000 who contracted Delta, how many deaths & ICU admissions would have been prevented by vaccination of this cohort. The answer: We have no idea. But since zero deaths were recorded from coronavirus in 0-9 - no life saved.
