Congratulations Vic, 0 community cases today. Comparison of Vic outbreak (VOC Delta/VOI Kappa) to NSW Nth Beaches (USA strain) - similar time to peak but potential earlier 14day zeros. Early effective lockdown is painful but has limited extensive community spread.

And Victoria also dealing with the two variants at the same time and both more infectious.

I don’t have objection to melb lockdown as an effective tactic, but to be fair NSW also managed to avoid “extensive” community spread. Quicker to get back to zero sure, but also a lot more disruptive for millions of people for the sake of a few weeks. Both options clearly valid.

Thanks for stepping forward and actually saying this. It’s impressive. It’s really hard work. It’s inspiring for the rest of us when our time to lock down comes. Somehow, Victoria more often attracts political point scoring comments instead. Appreciated.

Thank you from a grateful Victorian 🙏🏽 Your expertise and providing data throughout this pandemic has been a source of comfort and relief, especially to tune out those pushing to re-open before it’s safe. Yes, it’s tough for so many - but the alternative is unthinkable. Thank you

Shouldn’t we be looking at *total * outcomes here not just Covid cases? It may take a little longer to get back to Zero in NSW but kids keep going to school and there’s no city wide shutdowns of business.

It’s rather scary that you actually give advice to the WHO. No wonder why they’re so incompetent and dishonest.

It’s 2021 and we are 18 months into the pandemic, you’re still preaching lockdowns while the rest of the world are opening up. trib.al/J8EJgSS
NSW Northern Beaches didn't shit down Sydney! Only Northern Beaches because it was a peninsula!

Thank you for this. I think NB outbreak could have been much worse if it had started in winter when everyone was at work and kids at school. Glad Victoria took a zero tolerance risk approach. Given vaccination is frustratingly low we had no alternative but lockdown

So NSW got to a zero case day on day 19. Victoria has done it on day 18. Let's hope there's no bounce but aren't you possibly being optimistic to call the Victorian outbreak over on only the first zero day?
