Increases in variants of concern & resurgence in case numbers in countries that previously controlled their pandemics are a warning. We must not open our borders until majority, especially our 20-39 year olds (majority of cases & transmitters) are vaccinated.

If it wasn鈥檛 a free world, and you couldn鈥檛 die from the vaccine, then you are correct. But it is a free world, and people can die from the vaccine.

Watching your interview with PK. While it would be great if all aged care residents were tested and vaccinated, it is a question of consent. This must be given freely, without coercion or bullying. Of course "many won't like it" and that is their choice which is to be respected.

...and how do u plan to motivate these 20-39 yr olds to get vacc鈥檇 when there is currently no incentive? - no locally endemic disease; likely waning immunity post vax and new variants for which current vaccines unlikely to be protective by the time borders reopen who knows when

You might be surprised to know we have in NZ a total of 15 covid cases and all are in managed isolation. I suggest you assist your Victorian colleagues with the challenge ahead. Stay safe and well.

What abt opening carefully to countries that are shattering the curve, a less authoritarian approach? Your constant scaremongering affects 100s of 1000s 2x citizens that have family affections & obligations overseas, asked to suck it up indefinitely. No empathy, no deep thinking

I won't support border opening without quarantine. Will most of us tolerate hundreds/thousands of deaths, thousands moderately (very) ill, thousands with long covid (breathing issues, heart issues, brain fog, fatigue)? Vaccines don't stop this. Then resistant variants??
