Increases in variants of concern & resurgence in case numbers in countries that previously controlled their pandemics are a warning. We must not open our borders until majority, especially our 20-39 year olds (majority of cases & transmitters) are vaccinated.

Do you think it would be good to push this message alongside the need for a country to allow for necessary travel and improve it's mitigation strategies, such as quarantine? What about morbidity/mortality not directly caused by COVID during the pandemic?

We haven't done the elderly or disabled and there carers yet. Morrison has stuffed this up on an unimaginable scale.

And to do that we need the Pfizer πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

If the 20-39 years old are majority of cases and transmitters then it only highlights to me the @ausgov failures in respect of the vaccine rollout and the go-slow approach. Where is the urgency? Most people want to do what is right for themselves and the community.

Absolutely correct, Professor, & if anybody has doubts over your warning, they need only listen to WNYC Radiolab episode β€˜Dispatch 14: COVID Crystal Ball’ for a discussion on mutations in the immune-compromised. Revealing & worrying in equal measure. We’re not out of the woods.

We must also help poorer countries do same. Its in our interest. In their interest. But our PM not seem to care. Still refusing to support patent waiver for poorer countries. Is that official position of the religious Right?

Absolutely true, I am waiting for the next major out break in Europe or England. Where economy is more important then peoples lives. Though this goverment understands that doing the protection thing makes for votes, they must be ready to go nuts

Speaking to friends in the UK on a regular basis Australians have no idea what it is like to have Covid out of control. After two weeks of accepting return residents from India, meant to home quarantine , England again finds itself in this situation.... mismanagement!

This age group may well be key to reducing community transmission
Will post a collection of age bracket prevalence/positivity heat maps here as I come across them. Most demonstrate the repeated pattern of the 20-30 yr olds driving community transmission, eventually spreading to older and sometimes younger age groups. Will start off in France.

Is AZ effective against the Covid19 variants. This question has not been clearly answered I suggest that is the cause of hesitation by many.
