Herd immunity is not the goal of current vaccines because 1) all levels infections not preventable 2) would need high efficacy for all level of infection & high pop coverage. Please get any vaccine to give better chance of protection from symptoms, possibly severe COVID & death.

Understand @MarylouiseMcla1 but shouldn’t we be procuring the vaccines with the highest proven efficacy which at this point in time are Pfizer/ BioNtech and Moderna ones?

But I would rather have a vaccine with even 50% efficacy this year than wait much longer for one with higher efficacy. If we all take whatever approved vaccine is on offer, that surely helps enormously? (Huge thanks to @MarylouiseMcla1 for all your guidance through COVID-19).
