Mandatory masks will help to prevent the spread of COVID 👌. Government, shopping malls and venues should hand out free masks to augment the current physical distancing and hand hygiene stations. Assisting everyone's cooperation is more effective than fines.

Unfortunately the number of people refusing to wear masks properly in Melbourne is really disappointing. They do more harm than good if they are not handled correctly and not worn covering the nose and mouth. Fines are necessary for it to be of benefit.

Gratified to see @GladysB has now mandated highly sensible mask wearing in NSW. This will likely assist in reducing the risk of future #COVID19 outbreaks by providing a degree of mutual personal protection ➡️ greater community protection. @GregDore2 @billbowtell @ama_media
Why can’t people buy their own masks? Why do they have to be given out for free?

The compliance rate with picking up wet towels in the bathroom rises significantly in my house when I implement the 10 minute cleaning penalty for each wet towel found on the ground. I tire of assisting cooperation and my kids not developing their own sense of responsibility

@muso1947 Masks have become a bit of fun and some fashion statements in Victoria. It doesn't have to be a misery!

Thank you for your advocacy, Professor.
In Melbourne police handed out more masks than fines.
