Airflow/ventilation a massive problem in older hospitals. Lol we found out the only negative p room in hospital empties it’s air into the ED!

Airflow is a problem for older hospitals, @annecreaton @DrPieterPeach. The built environment of age care facilities with COVID-19 positive residents is problematic as there is no ability to provide neg air pressure rooms plus HEPA filters plus air change of 40-80L/s/patient.

Can this problem be addressed by retrofitting better ventilation systems? Could CSIRO investigate? If so, surely it's the kind of large scale infrastructure that fed govt could finance, create good jobs, and improve health & future resilience to this & other airborne diseases?

Opening windows, where possible, would be a good first step.

I can’t even begin to imagine the difficulty in trying to isolate people in aged care facilities
