What’s the absolute risk reduction, given the current prevalence of disease?

DrAsh- Somewhere between 10-70% depending on quality. The WHO recommends cloth mask with 3 layers and this should provide protection towards the higher end of this range.

The prevalence in Australia is approximately zero, so the the absolute risk reduction is also zero.

Youre mistaking management of an outbreak to be confined only to numbers. Management includes reducing community fear, and responding to lifting of restrictions when community spread is continuing even at low numbers.
