Dr Visser explains it well! My experience with SARS and on the WHO COVID-19 expert panel for infection prevention, indicate that without border protection this virus will rapidly spread to the vulnerable. That places great strain on hospitals.

Closing the borders might have worked a month ago. The disease is now in our community and replicating rapidly. We don't know the true numbers because we aren't testing those without a contact history.
