On the 33rd anniversary of #TiananmenSquareMassacre, Taiwan’s former President Ma Ying-jeou 馬英九 praised Xi Jinping 習近平, saying China is on the right track to establish rule of law. Whereas Taiwan is becoming an illiberal democracy.

33 years ago in #TiananmenSquare, the brave people of China rose up to demand democracy and fundamental freedoms but they were brutally suppressed by the government. Taiwan will continue to stand up for those who carry on their fight for a more democratic future in China.

We have to create an environment where China understands when it chooses to pick a fight with one country, it is actually starting a fight with coalition of like-minded countries. This is the only we will be able to exert pressure on China. washingtonpost.com/world/202…

The EU and Taiwan share strong trade and investment ties, especially in tech. And we're putting that strong bond to use. We agreed to monitor semiconductor supply chains more effectively. An important step in making them more resilient. #EUtrade 👉europa.eu/!RjfVkd

You may think I want to stress the importance of more investment in asymmetric capability, such as Taiwan's Kestrel anti-tank rocket launcher, but what I really want to say is this 👇
Today I visited our troops to thank them for all they do to keep the people of #Taiwan safe. While we enjoy this long weekend & celebrate Dragon Boat Festival, our soldiers will be on guard, protecting our country & giving us peace of mind.

The more China does this, the sooner we become used to it, and it will become increasing difficult to determine if China is just doing their routine exercises or are they preparing to launch an attack on Taiwan. This is a very worrying trend.
30 PLA aircrafts (KJ-500 AEW&C*2, Y-8 ELINT*4, Y-8 EW*1, Y-8 ASW*1, J-16*6, J-11*8, J-10*4, SU-35*2, and SU-30*2) entered #Taiwan’s southwest ADIZ on May 30, 2022. Please check our official website for more information: bit.ly/3NFPXMT

As we continue to sharpen our focus on testing & upgrading critical capabilities, we have to be equally focused on whole-of-government & whole-of-society mobilisation.

Let's make no mistake, China is the only one changing the status quo, full stop.
Taiwan is a vibrant democracy and leading economy in the Indo-Pacific region. Our policy has not changed, and we will continue to expand our cooperation with Taiwan under our One China Policy and maintain our interest in peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.

Taiwan played a critical role in sharing information from the very start of the pandemic. With health threats like this, we're all on the same side. Today I called on @WHO members to grant Taiwan observer status to the World Health Assembly. #WHA75

Delightful welcome reception by Taiwan before #WHA75 this week. The United States supports the @WHO’s global leadership and calls for their inclusive approach to achieve health for all. We support Taiwan’s meaningful participation at the #WHA75 and @WHO technical meetings.

The PRC continues to publicly misrepresent U.S. policy. The United States does not subscribe to the PRC’s “one China principle” – we remain committed to our longstanding, bipartisan one China policy, guided by the Taiwan Relations Act, Three Joint Communiques, and Six Assurances.
