This also bothered me. Taiwan is “Greater China” in this Financial Times chart. Classifying the company Taiwan Semiconductor (TSMC) as part of the Chinese economy is not only politically problematic but economically misleading as well. TSMC pays taxes to Taipei, not Beijing.

Needlessly provocative and incorrect reasoning by @TheEconomist. Rather than sensationalizing and supporting the current ambiguity, a supposedly liberal paper like The Economist should call for a new Mutual Defense Treaty between the US and Taiwan.

Taiwan is a democracy where most Chinese are to defend as Republic of China, founded in Wuhan, is now in Taiwan. Chinese Communist party(CCP) is the shared enemy of both Taiwanese and Chinese. We guard the Constitution of ROC.

China is the problem, not Taiwan. Framing Taiwan as a land on the precipice of war serves Beijing! It does an incredible disservice to the Taiwanese Government and its people to print a cover such as this which is pure sensationalism. I am VERY upset to see this living in Taiwan.
