In 2022, Taiwan's outbound investment in SouthEast Asian countries has reached US$ 5.2 billion, surpassing Taiwan's investment in China for the 1st time.
In 2024, Taiwan will set up a new SouthEast Asian Investment Funds to further strengthen our partnerships.
When DPP took office in 2016, the government was only spending NT$ 5 billion in long-term care. This year we passed the "Social Welfare Fundamental Act" and next year we will be spending NT$ 87 billion to take care of our elderly people. This is progress.
選對的人 走對的路!
Taiwan saw the strongest export in 2022 with international sales of Taiwan products reaching US$ 479.4 billion.
This is nearly double compared to the year 2016.
DPP's Vice Presidential Candidate Bikhim Hsiao joined me today in Tainan for a service of worship, where she talked about how her upbringing shaped her worldview and deepened her commitment to Taiwan.
Taiwan will continue to prioritise C4ISR capabilities in our arms acquisitions as we work to modernise our joint force to meet the war fighting challenges of this century.
We will continue to engage with the PRC through the formal dispute settlement mechanism of the WTO. Unlike the PRC who has a history of unfair trade practices, Taiwan is a trusted & reliable trade partner in the global supply chain. We oppose PRC’s interference in our elections.
Yesterday, we passed the Minimum Wage Act which stipulates that minimum wages in Taiwan should be adjusted in line with the annual rise of the consumer price index (CPI). The DPP government will continue to champion for workers rights.
It is my great honor to announce that I’ve chosen @bikhim — a warrior for democracy and one of #Taiwan’s most influential ambassadors — as my running mate. Fueled by shared commitment, we pledge to build a brighter future for all. Together, we’ll work towards a stronger Taiwan.
The fact that KMT and TPP can’t reach an agreement on a United ballot for the presidential race is indicative of the kind of administration they will be: chaos.
The KMT and TPP failed to agree on a united ballot for the January election due to discrepancies over sampling error size and polling methodology, but indicated they are to keep working toward a consensus before the Friday registration deadline

One of the more bizarre moments I've covered in Taiwanese politics: On National Day, Taiwan's most powerful opposition figures are greeted a llama (??) before breaking into a coordinated dance
During a legislative session with Taiwan's intelligence agency, we discussed the alleged leaks of submarine secrets, latest trends of China's information warfare, and PLA's attempt to complicate radar detection systems by flying a military plane vertically under a civilian plane
The launch of Taiwan's indigenous submarine is an important step for Taiwan's self-defense. The enhanced underwater capability will allow Taiwan to complicate the risks the PRC would have to face in gray-zone operations and in conflict.
With our first domestically produced submarine, #Taiwan has taken a substantial step in boosting self-sufficiency in defence & protecting its territorial waters. Moving forward, our defence industry will be an important support as we continue to enhance our indigenous defence.
