The chairman of the Taiwanese parliament’s foreign affairs and national defence committee @MPWangTingyu:
“We have information from inside China. They regard AUKUS more seriously than the Quad, especially the submarine [agreement].”

Urban combat is Taiwan's top priority as we continue to strengthen Taiwan's defense in depth. This also requires us to take whole-of-society approach to build and maintain operational readiness in a conflict.🇹🇼
FM @GLandsbergis: Frank talk w/@AmbassadorTai. We are grateful for the #US commitment to working w/the #EU to address coercive diplomatic&economic behavior. We are standing united, as like-minded partners, in sustaining our values & principles in the face of any kind of coercion.
It was great to speak with Minister @GLandsbergis today. I expressed the U.S.' continuing strong support for Lithuania in the face of economic coercion from the PRC. We also discussed ways to strengthen our trans-Atlantic partnership and promote our jointly-held values.
We greet prospects for the #Taiwanese-#Lithuanian economic 🤝 cooperation and look forward to welcoming Taiwanese investments ✅ in the fields of semiconductors, lasers, biotechnology and others.
Touched base with 🇱🇹 PM @IngridaSimonyte on topical issues at the beginning of the year:
• Health situation and continued vaccination efforts to stem the pandemic
• The situation at the border with Belarus
• Supporting 🇱🇹 in addressing current trade irritants with China
💬"The Lithuanian-Taiwanese mutual plans to exchange representative offices do not themselves signify something extraordinary, as many fellow EU & other Western countries have done essentially the same", - says Dr. Konstantinas Andrijauskas in #LFPR2021. 🔗lfpr.lt/
The establishment of the All-Out Defense Mobilization Agency is an important step forward for Taiwan's ongoing efforts to further develop our defense-in-depth. I'm committed to working closely w/ the @MoNDefense to put in place the necessary legislative & regulatory framework.
Today I helped inaugurate the All-Out Defense Mobilization Agency under our @MoNDefense. By coordinating reserve training & education for #Taiwan's people, this new agency will play a key role in strengthening our nation's defenses against evolving threats.
In addition to the 500,000 US$ donation, Taiwan is airlifting vital supplies to the Philippines to support recovery and relief efforts. Our thoughts are with the people of the Philippines who have been affected by #TyphoonRai 🇹🇼🇵🇭

To strengthen EU's eastern border with Belarus, Lithuania is building not only a physical barrier but also use surveillance UAVs donated by Taiwan 🇹🇼 as a "Thank you" gesture to 🇱🇹 #vaccinesdiplomacy , #FriendInNeedFriendInDeed
Absent a multilateral economic framework to support economies being coerced by China, we r not going to be able to compete effectively w/ China, let along shaping int'l order in our favour. Lithuania is a test for China, but more so for all of us who believe in democratic values.
I'll go further than that. With the referendum on pork failing to gain a majority, let's negotiate a bilateral free trade agreement with Taiwan. Both sides will benefit. And then other countries may follow.
Today the people of Taiwan make their voices heard, our democracy is an example to the world. We reaffirm that Taiwan will remain a free-market economy and our approach to addressing complex energy & environmental issues is balanced and sustainable.

I met w/ Vice Defense Minister Fang Mao-hung 房茂宏 to discuss ways to secure our harbors & airports if China invades Taiwan, the role of coast guard in countering China's grey-zone threats, and how Taiwan can deepen exchanges with the U.S. National Guard.
The Ortega-Murillo regime continues to make self-serving decisions at the expense of the Nicaraguan people, who stand to suffer from the loss of a reliable, democratic partner in Taiwan. We encourage the int’l community to continue strengthening its relationships with Taiwan.
