I met with former U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor Matt Pottinger to talk about Taiwan-U.S. security partnership and how democratic countries can work together to deter China's increasingly provocative behaviour.

Xi's softened tone toward Taiwan in his new year's address is just part of his charm offensive when the PLA's actions don't match up with Xi's words.

Special operation force is a critical component of Taiwan's asymmetric defense. Today I visited Special Operation Center to learn more about its training, equipment and counter UAV capability. #SOF

This military reform DOES NOT bring us closer to conflict; in fact, it achieves the opposite. Our strategic objective is to strengthen and reenforce deterrence so that leaders of China wake up everyday thinking "China is not ready yet".
Learning the lessons from the Russia-Ukraine war as well as facing the military expansion& threat from China, #ROC has evaluated and decided to resume the 1 year mandatory #MilitaryService with increased training intensity. Well preparations can prevent wars from coming.

I applaud President Tsai @iingwen's decision to extend the conscription to 1 year. I'm thrilled to learn that under the new plan conscripts will be trained on how to use advanced asymmetric weapons, such as man-portable missiles and UAVs.

Taking all three voting treasures - ID card, seal, and voting notice, and going out to vote. There are total of 4 votes in Tainan city- Mayor, City Councilor, District Chief, 18-year-old Citizenship Amendment Review. Let’s enjoy the rights as a citizen of a democratic country.

Happy to be corrected here, but I think the Prime Minister's comment on CP-TPP and Taiwan is factually wrong. Sovereign state status isn't a prerequisite for joining the CP-TPP. Article 5 of the CP-TPP seems to makes it clear it's open to any state "separate customs territory"

China's air and maritime gray-zone operations are aimed at exhausting Taiwan's armed forces, internalizing the Taiwan Strait, and preparing for an attack. We need to adjust our strategy to make sure China does not succeed.
46 PLA aircraft and 4 PLAN vessels around our surrounding region were detected today (Nov. 6, 2022) until 1700(GMT+8). #ROCArmedForces have monitored the situation and responded to these activities with aircraft in CAP, naval vessels, and land-based missile systems.

For the 1st time in our nation's history, Taiwan has democratically initiated a constitutional amendment case. In 20 days, we have a chance to lower the voting to 18, but it will take record voter turnout - 9.65 million votes. Let's make this happen! #Vote

Taiwan has an actionable net-zero roadmap that will make us carbon neutral by 2050 but we have to do more and act faster, this includes passing "Climate Change Response Act" ASAP. #COP27

At our working dinner I heard strong G7 commitment to supporting a free and open, connected, prosperous and resilient Indo-Pacific, including by maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. Realizing this vision is essential for tackling shared global challenges.
