Prior to becoming United States Attorney on September 19, 2022, Mr. Estrada was a partner at the law firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, where he also worked as an associate between 2004 and 2007. In private practice.
After his parents and siblings emigrated from Guatemala to the United States, Estrada grew up in Orange County, California, where his parents worked as a pediatrician and a Spanish teacher.
On June 6, 2022, President Joe Biden nominated Estrada to be the United States attorney for the Central District of California. His nomination was supported by Senator Alex Padilla.
Martin J. Estrada is a Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agent and a current member of the Illicit Finance and Proceeds of Crime Unit (IFPCU) at HSI Los Angeles. Estrada joined HSI in 2011 and began his career at HSI Los Angeles working in intelligence before transferring to a joint HSI/DSS a Document and Benefit Fraud Task Force (DBFTF) in 2015.
In 2018 Estrada transferred to the Illicit Finance and Proceeds of Crime Unit as their document fraud specialist.
