We need a functioning immigration system that processes migrants at the border, creates legal paths, and allows for processing in their home countries throughout the Americas. Republicans refuse to collaborate, despite the urgent need for reform. It is time for a paradigm shift, looking at immigration through the lens of national security, foreign policy, climate justice, racial justice, and economic justice, and not just a domestic-policy lens.
