That request was denied by Speaker Pelosi and her Sergeant at Arms.
During the attack, Capitol Police made the request again.

On January 7th, Speaker Pelosi claimed that the Capitol Police Chief hadn’t called since the attack.
We now know that’s not true.
Chief Sund briefed Pelosi’s team twice during the attack!
First at 5:36 p.m. and again at 6:25 p.m.
