#OTD On 29 November 1947, the @UN adopted resolution 181, paving the way for the establishment of 2 States for 2 People, with the Partition Plan of Mandatory Palestine.
The Zionists agreed.
The Arab leaders refused.
Resolution was adopted (Yes 33 / No 13 / Abst 10).
On 30 November 1947, a Jewish bus was ambushed by Arab terrorists near Lod. Violence started to spread. And on 15 May 1948, the armies of Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Trans-Jordan, and a Saudi Arabian contingent, invaded with the avowed purpose of destroying the nascent Jewish State of @Israel, and eradicating the Jews from the river to the sea.
They lost, Israel survived and flourished.
Fast forward 30 years, the UN establishes #PalestineDay in 1977 - or what could be described as "rewriting-history-to-fit-a-narrative-day".
But History cannot be rewritten.
These are the facts:
Israel has always wanted peace.
Palestinian leaders have continuously rejected it.
For a peaceful future to be realized, Palestinian leaders must stop rewriting history, stop shielding or encouraging terrorism, and the UN must stop being an instrument for anti-Israel rethoric.
Sadly, the last few weeks have proven all three are still true.
