For a whole month now, we have urged civilians and patients to evacuate the Shifa Hospital, which is the cover for the Hamas HQ. Our goal is to avoid civilians being trapped in an active combat zone. Yet, @WHO @ICRC @UNOCHA have constantly criticised our call, enabling Hamas to use the hospital, its patients and its staff as human shields. The international community could have facilitated the transfer of patients, but they did nothing, except call out Israel and give Hamas a free pass. Now that the @IDF is in the vicinity of the hospital, it will provide the assistance needed, in coordination with the Shifa medical staff with whom the IDF maintains direct & regular communication with. Israel will continue to do all it can to protect the civilian population in Gaza. Hamas doesn’t care. Israel does.
