The Israeli military's claim appears to be a deliberate lie, as the so-called "tunnel shaft" is, in fact, an underground chamber for the hospital's electrical generators & ventilation shaft. The main generator is underneath to avoid loud sounds. Here are 2 pictures of the opening

Israel has effective control of the entirety of Gaza. Israel, superior force, supported by leading states inc US, can & must target combatants, not civilians. Israel can & must isolate combatants to adhere to IHL. Yes, Hamas violates IHL & commits war crimes; stop doing same.
