"All the guards were heavily armed and abused me and the other hostages." Freed Israeli hostage Amit Soussana spent 55 days as a captive in Gaza. Listen to her horrific experience, in her own words. We will not stop working to bring each and every one of the hostages home. #BringThemHomeNow #FreeGazaFromHamas

Pramila Patten, @UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, started yesterday her fact-finding mission investigating the wide-spread and systematic sexual and gender-based violence perpetrated by Hamas on October 7. She shared her uncompromising commitment to the victims so that their voices will be heard world-widely: "There's no place in the 21st Century battlefields for such crimes. The world needs to know what really happened on 7th October. The stigma should not be on you. The stigma, the shame, is on the perpetrators. We owe you more than solidarity. We really want to ensure that you have justice so that we put an end to this to this heinous act.” 📸: Amos Ben-Gershom / GPO / President’s Spokesperson

According to international law, the use of sexual violence is considered a war crime. Thank you UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Pramila Patten, for visiting Israel with the aim of studying closely the horrific, systematic, and extensive sexual and gender-based violence committed by the terrorist organization Hamas on October 7, and to show solidarity with the citizens of Israel. We held an important meeting with the participation of a team of experts in the medical and legal fields accompanying her on her visit, along with representatives from Israeli civil society organizations and academia dealing with women's rights, and the fight against gender-based violence, who are working to raise awareness of the horrible sexual crimes committed by Hamas terrorists. Thank you Mrs. Patten for your vital and important mission to find out the truth and present it clearly to the world.

A Hamas headquarters Under a CEMETERY: Under the Bani Suheila cemetery in Khan Yunis, Hamas dug a terror tunnel used as a command center and hideout for senior Hamas officials Hamas has zero regard to the sanctity of the place, anything is a tool in their terrorism industry.

Before #WWII, Sally Bein led an institute for Jewish children with disabilities in Beelitz, Germany, with the vision of making education inclusive. Besides the school curiculum, they would learn practical skills, giving them the opportunity to later get jobs and change the course of their lives. But the Nazis put an end to this. They closed the institution and deportated the children and staff to the Sobibor death camp during the #Holocaust. The only possible fate in Nazis' genocidial plan. 82 years later, we remember and honour Sally Bein and his innovative approach to inclusive education. Today, we held an event @UNGENEVA together with @GermanyUNGeneva, @JewishImpact, @wzo_official, and Alumot Or, discussing Sally's legacy and the relevancy of his vision, to the present days. #WeRemember #HolocaustRemembranceDay

Yemen, Syria, Iran and North Korea once again chose to abuse the Executive Board of @WHO in order to attack @Israel. Their words ring hollow in the face of the suffering they inflict on their own citizens.

The @nyt on the evidence which ties workers at UNRWA - a Palestinian UN aid agency in Gaza - to violence during the October 7 massacre by Hamas: “One is accused of kidnapping a woman. Another is said to have handed out ammunition. A third was described as taking part in the massacre at a kibbutz where 97 people died. And all were said to be employees of the United Nations aid agency that schools, shelters and feeds hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip…” nytimes.com/2024/01/28/world… #UNRWA #DefundUNRWA

The Jet d’eau, the symbol of Geneva, is illuminated yellow today to symbolize the yellow star that Jews were forced to wear by the Nazis prior to their deportation to the death camps. #WeRemember

The ICJ quoted @UNRWA as a source of information, the same UNRWA that just terminated staff who were involved in the October 7 Massacre. UNRWA is how Hamas launders information for global consumption. This must be a wake-up call.

Allegations of the involvement of @UNRWA staff in #Hamas’ barbaric terrorist attacks against #Israel on 7 October are shocking and alarming. The @UN must be beyond reproach. This is a question of credibility.

Major changes need to take place so that international efforts, funds, and humanitarian initiatives don’t fuel Hamas terrorism and the murder of Israelis. Terrorism under the guise of humanitarian work is a disgrace to the @UN and the principles it claims to represent.

Today @UNGeneva, we had the honour to hear the story of Martha Raviv, who survived the #Holocaust. She traveled from Israel, surrounded by her family. Martha is a symbol of hope, a symbol of light, a symbol of how one can overcome such evil, with such fortitude. The Holocaust was an abyss of darkness, a stark reminder of the consequences of prejudice, hatred, and indifference. Yet, those who came out of this abyss, did not just survive, they thrived. We, the Jewish people, as well as the descendants of all victims of Nazism, will forever carry this with us, as a lesson for generations to come. #WeRemember

Today, at the Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony @UNGeneva, I reminded everyone that the Holocaust did not start with industrialized mass killings, it began much earlier, with pogroms around Europe. It began when the dehumanization, the beatings, the killings of the Jewish people became normalized. The Hamas massacre of October 7 brought us back, for a moment, to those dark times. The indifference to the suffering of our people, as Hamas burnt entire families alive in their homes, is the same indifference which allowed the world to look away 80 years ago. Unfortunately, this indifference plagues the very halls I speak in today; the very organisations that preach human rights, the very institutions born out of the ashes of Birkenau, Sobibor, or Treblinka, established on the premise of never again. As Jew hatred spikes around the world. We must urgently act to ensure that the Jewish people can live safely, and Jewish life can thrive, be it in Kfar Aza or Geneva, New York or Kibbutz Be’eri. #WeRemember

Replying to @DrTedros
There is clear evidence of the use of hospitals by Hamas and the fact that hostages were taken to medical institutions after the brutal massacre of October 7th. This includes first hand accounts and CCTV footage. These are not “false claims”. They are facts. Yet you have said nothing. Like I said in my speech yesterday, by not condemning Hamas or taking any action to prevent them embedding themselves in hospitals and civilian areas, you are putting those who you are supposed to protect in harms way. They deserve better.
