Just now at #ILC2023, @LTCPeterLerner, Director General of @HistadrutGlobal, the General Organisation of Workers in #Israel, addressed the Plenary. Today we have heard from workers, employees and governments from around the world addressing #Labor rights.

Proud to join #diplomatsforequality at the #Geneva #Pride Parade and celebrate the achievements reached for ensuring the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex & non-binary #LGBTQI+ persons. As LGBTQI+ rights are under attack around the world, including at the UN, it’s also important to take stock, realise much remains to be done, and continue to fight for a more equal and just society 🏳️‍🌈🇮🇱 #genevapride2023

The Commission of Inquiry against Israel has no legitimacy. It never had. A year after its first report, Israel's warnings about this Commission of Inquiry have been realized. In just a year, this Commission and its three Commissioners have used antisemitic tropes, they have denied Israel's right to exist as a member of the United Nations, they have attacked the widely embraced IHRA working definition of antisemitism, and they have come out in support of BDS. Their political activism only serves to advance pre-existing biased prejudices against Israel, under the guise of a supposedly independent UN mandate. The claims and false accusations against Israel presented in the latest report are widely based on so-called public hearings which would be better described as kangaroo trials. The COI also appears to reject all NGO submissions and official public records that do not fit its prejudged narrative. Israel has a robust and independent civil society which is composed of thousands of NGOs, human rights defenders, national and international media outlets, that can operate freely throughout the year.

What if States had opposed the Nazis requests to deport their Jews? 80 years ago, the Bulgarian people showed the very best of humanity. 48 000 Jews were saved from deportation to Nazi death camps, barely hours before their fates were sealed, following a wide mobilisation against the fascist government. But during the same time, the very worst of humanity was displayed with Bulgarian authorities sending to Treblinka 11 343 Jews from Macedonia, Thrace and Pirot. This week, we marked those historical events during an enlightening event @UNGeneva together with the Bulgarian Mission, @UN_Valovaya and Israeli historian Michael Bar-Zohar. The key lessons: Stand up for others. Never let indifference and hatred infect our societies.

This week, the North Korean regime was appointed by Member States to the Executive Board of @WHO. #DPRK where hunger is widespread, where the healthcare system is crippling, where no international cooperation is allowed. They have joined Syria, who was appointed in 2021. The contribution of this regime to health is only through death. Bombing its own hospital, gasing its population, threatening WHO staff. Those regimes have no legitimacy to govern the WHO. This absurdity must end.

Fantastic News! The #WHA76 adopted by consensus the Israeli-led resolution on strengthening #rehabilitation in #health systems, the first-ever resolution on this essential topic. We are proud to have led this historical achievement, which will pave the way for improving the lives of the 2.4+ billion people worldwide with health conditions that could benefit from rehabilitation. Thank you 🇦🇷 🇧🇷 🇨🇴 🇭🇷 🇰🇪 🇲🇦 🇷🇼 🇸🇰 for joining the core group from the start, to @WHO for their valuable input, and to civil society for their tireless efforts to promote rehabilitation as part of #UHC.

Globally, 1 in 3 people are estimated to be living with a #health condition that would benefit from #rehabilitation. But those needs are largely unmet. That's what motivated us into leading the first @WHO resolution on this topic. It will be adopted tomorrow by #WHA76. Today, we gathered with all our partners to discuss the implications of this decision!
