Pramila Patten, @UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, started yesterday her fact-finding mission investigating the wide-spread and systematic sexual and gender-based violence perpetrated by Hamas on October 7. She shared her uncompromising commitment to the victims so that their voices will be heard world-widely: "There's no place in the 21st Century battlefields for such crimes. The world needs to know what really happened on 7th October. The stigma should not be on you. The stigma, the shame, is on the perpetrators. We owe you more than solidarity. We really want to ensure that you have justice so that we put an end to this to this heinous act.” 📸: Amos Ben-Gershom / GPO / President’s Spokesperson

Before #WWII, Sally Bein led an institute for Jewish children with disabilities in Beelitz, Germany, with the vision of making education inclusive. Besides the school curiculum, they would learn practical skills, giving them the opportunity to later get jobs and change the course of their lives. But the Nazis put an end to this. They closed the institution and deportated the children and staff to the Sobibor death camp during the #Holocaust. The only possible fate in Nazis' genocidial plan. 82 years later, we remember and honour Sally Bein and his innovative approach to inclusive education. Today, we held an event @UNGENEVA together with @GermanyUNGeneva, @JewishImpact, @wzo_official, and Alumot Or, discussing Sally's legacy and the relevancy of his vision, to the present days. #WeRemember #HolocaustRemembranceDay

Today, Martha Raviv, a Holocaust survivor, will be sharing her life story at the International #Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony @UNGeneva. Born in Austria, Martha was arrested with her family and sent to various prisons and concentration camps, including Bergen Belsen and Vittel. No child, no-one, should endured what she went through during the Holocaust. She survived. And later on immigrated to Israel, became a lawyer, and helped many Holocaust survivors and their families recover their rights and properties that were confiscated under the Nazi regime. 🇨🇭 Ambassador Thöni @swiss_un: "Switzerland shares the historical responsibility. The voice of the Holocaust survivors is indeed invaluable. Their stories also tell their life after the Holocaust: how they continued their life after the big trauma. Antisemitism has no place in a democratic society, in our society."

🇮🇱 @MeiravEShahar - “As the Jewish People suffered its deadliest day on October 7 since the end of Holocaust, and an alarming rise in antisemitism across the world, the stories of those survivors must be ingrained in our minds, to prevent history from repeating itself.”

🇮🇱 @MeiravEShahar - “The portraits, stories and testimonies of those who survived tell the next generation not just how people died, but how they lived through adversity, and became the glimmers of light in the dark”.

📣Anita Winter, @Gamaraal4Life - “As the last contemporary witnesses die on us, and when antisemitism is at an all-time high, it is more important than ever to strengthen the remembrance work." The October 7 attacks on Israel and the subsequent spike of anti-Semitism and denial around the world, have shaken every Jew across the world, reminding us of the darkest days of the history of our People.”

📣Anita Winter, @Gamaraal4Life - "Since 2017, we have interviewed dozens of the last witnesses living across Switzerland, to share once again their story. For many, it was so difficult. But passing on their testimony, was equally important, so that we bear witness."
