The Palestinians in Gaza must receive humanitarian aid. A lot of aid. But we cannot trust UNRWA. The EU must use other organizations and find other ways to help the Palestinians, than via UNRWA. We cannot give this organization any more chances. EU's aid must be safeguarded - that's how we protect the recipients, that's how we protect Palestinians in need. #stopUNRWAfunding

Irene Shashar, survived the Holocaust as a five year old by fleeing through a sewer to the Aryan side of Warsaw where she was hidden. Today, she lives in Israel and shared her story and its lessons at the @Europarl_EN in honor of #HolocaustRemembranceDay. “I did believe that I had paid the price, and yet my grandchildren must pay to defend their right to life in a Jewish state. There are still 136 hostages, dead or alive in the hands of terrorists. Friends I ask for your solidarity and support to see these hostages reunited with their families.” Listen to her words. #BringThemAllHome 📸 @Assita_Kanko

Tomorrow the world will mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day and commemorate the 6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis. 79 years later, and antisemitism has reached unprecedented levels, including calls to wipe the Jewish State off the map. We must fight this hatred and take the words never again seriously. Watch:

The charge of genocide levelled against Israel at the International Court of Justice is false and outrageous. It constitutes a shameful exploitation of the Genocide Convention that is not only wholly unfounded in fact and law, but morally repugnant.   As the Court recognized, on October 7th Hamas and other terrorist groups committed unspeakable atrocities against Israel and its citizens. Like every country, Israel has an inherent and inalienable right to defend itself against the terrorist onslaught it still faces. The vile attempt by South Africa to deny Israel this fundamental right was justly rejected.   The Court has repeatedly made clear that its decision today does not determine whether South Africa’s claims have any merit, or the Court’s jurisdiction in this matter.   Israel remains committed, as it has repeatedly affirmed and demonstrated, to acting in accordance with its rights and obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law. This commitment is unwavering, independent of any ICJ proceedings.   Israel welcomes the Court’s clear demand for the immediate and unconditional release of all the hostages held in Gaza.   Israel’s war is against Hamas, not against Palestinian civilians. Israel will continue to facilitate humanitarian assistance, and to do its utmost according to the law to keep civilians out of harm’s way, even as Hamas uses them as human shields.   South Africa’s baseless accusations, and its attempt to empty the word genocide of its unique force and special meaning, have been widely denounced by numerous States known for their commitment to the rule of law. Israel is confident that the Court will likewise reject these unfounded claims at the merits phase of proceedings.   On the eve of January 27th, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Israel calls on all those genuinely committed to the solemn promise of “never again” enshrined in the Genocide Convention, to reject the unconscionable efforts to distort the truth in support of a genocidal terrorist organization. Hamas, and its sponsor in Tehran, seek to deny both Israelis and Palestinians the ability to achieve a peaceful future. South Africa should be denounced for being their willing accomplice.     Foreign Minister Israel Katz: “Israel’s commitment to international law is unwavering. It exists independently of any ICJ proceedings, as does Israel’s inherent right to defend itself against the genocidal terrorists of Hamas. I reiterate this today on the eve of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. I commend our excellent legal team for their outstanding efforts. You have represented Israel and the Jewish people with honor. You have made us proud.”

nitter.vloup.ch/Israel/status/17… Imagine being violently kidnapped from your home and then being dragged through an 830 meters long tunnel, right under the heart of a civilian area in Gaza. Imagine being held in a dark cramped space with no light or ventilation for days on end. The Hamas tunnel below is where 20 Israeli hostages were held at different times. We will not rest until each and every one of the hostages are safe at home. #BringThemAllHome

nitter.vloup.ch/IsraelMFA/status… Hamas leader Khaled Mashal: "We reject the two-state solution idea. Our goal is clear, a Palestinian state from the river to the sea, from north to south.” Hamas has one goal: To wipe Israel off the map. We cannot and will not allow this to happen.

Yesterday the @Europarl_EN passed an important resolution that states clearly that a ceasefire is provided upon the unconditional release of all hostages and the dismantling of the terrorist organization Hamas. Thanks to all MEPs who supported this resolution and a heartfelt appreciation to @TonoEPP for taking the lead in this strong position.

100 days. 2,400 hours. 144,000 minutes. 8,640,000 seconds. 136 people - babies, the elderly, men and women - being held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. Every second counts. Every second could be their last. #BringThemHomeNow
