May 3: Golda Meir, #Israel’s fourth prime minister is born in #Kyiv. She eventually emigrated to 🇮🇱 and became the third woman in the 🌏to serve as head of state.

May 14, 1948: David Ben-Gurion (#Israel's first prime minister) declares Israeli independence, establishing the first modern #Jewish State and marking the return of the Jewish ✡️ people to their 3,000 year old ancestral homeland.

May 11, 1949: #Israel 🇮🇱 becomes the 59th member to join the @UN. 📷GPO
